The message that takes ten seconds to answer
By the end you'll have the request message with a link that opens straight to the review box, ready to send for every job you close.

You send the WhatsApp message asking for a review, and the days go by. They don't answer with a no, they answer with silence. It's not that they aren't happy with the work, it's that leaving a review takes more effort than they're willing to give you in that moment.
The problem is almost never willingness. It's friction: they have to find where to write it, think about what to say, and decide if it's worth stopping to do it. Each of those three steps is an excuse to put it off, and later almost always means never.
What makes writing a review take ten seconds instead of two minutes
The message goes out to every customer when you close out a job. What decides whether they reply in ten seconds or never open it is the exact wording and the link inside it.
There are three things that cost them time, and you solve all three before they even see the message.
The first hurdle is finding where to write it. If the message says "leave us a review on Google" and the customer has to search for you, open your listing, find the reviews section, and then find the button to write one, you've already lost part of the people who were going to do it. The link you send has to open the box where they type the rating and the text directly, not your whole listing.
The second hurdle is figuring out what to say. A blank screen with the word "review" at the top intimidates anyone who doesn't write for a living. If your message reminds them what you did for them, they already have something to work from. What they say and the rating they give you is up to them.
The third is not seeing the point of it. If the message sounds like a favor you're asking for, they'll put it off. If it sounds like it helps someone with the same problem find you, they'll do it before they close the conversation.
Sign in to your Google Business Profile with the account you use to manage it, choose Reviews and then Get more reviews, and you'll get a short link there, different from the long address that shows up when someone finds you on the map.
Save it somewhere you can grab fast when you close out a job: in WhatsApp Business quick replies, or in a pinned note on your phone. The goal is to never have to go looking for it, because if it takes you a while to find it, it takes you a while to send the message, and the moment when the customer is most willing to say yes cools off fast.
- Anyone can get it by copying the URL of your Google listing
- The customer lands on your profile and has to search for reviews, then click write a review
- Works fine on day one, while you generate the short link
- Grab it once from your Google Business Profile, under Get reviews
- Opens straight to the rating and text box, no extra steps in between
- The one that goes in the message as soon as you have it
Which one do I use: Use the short link as soon as you've generated it: it's the same effort for you and a lot less for the customer. The link to your full profile only works as a stopgap on day one, while you're generating it.
The message, exactly as it's sent
The detail you remind them of changes depending on what you did for them, but the formula is always the same: name what you did. For a repair customer, name the problem you fixed. For a session customer, name what they came in for. For an order customer, name what they bought. That's all it takes: that detail gives them a thread to pull on so they can write their own sentence, instead of staring at a blank screen.
With this, you've got the whole message: it goes out to everyone when you close a job, and now you know what it says and what link is inside it. What you reply when a review stings is the next stop.
With this message, reviews are going to start coming in, and some will sting. The next lesson gives you the three-step structure for responding to that negative review.
- The request message with the short review link, ready to copy and paste when you close out each job
- The link that opens the write-a-review box directly, not the general profile
- The specific detail you remind them of each time, what you did for them, without telling them what to write
